Situation
A Luma store with years of custom work attached to it
The store sold paving, block paving and walling by the pack and by the square metre, with trade accounts, samples, delivery date selection and postcode-based shipping rates. All of that lived in 44 custom modules, many of them written for the old Luma front end, some of them nobody could remember ordering.
The owner wanted the speed of Hyvä without losing any of it, and without the store going quiet while the work happened.
What we did
Every old module accounted for before go-live
- Module review All 44 custom modules were read and sorted into three groups: needs real front-end work on Hyvä, backend only so reinstall as it is, or no longer needed. Each got a one-line verdict the owner could read.
- Theme build Product pages rebuilt around pack rows with per-square-metre and per-pack prices, key features and specifications, a basket drawer that opens on add to cart, and a mobile header that keeps the icons on one line.
- Checkout Hyvä Checkout with the store’s card and Klarna payments, address lookup made to work in the new checkout, and the delivery information images restored in the terms pop-up.
- Search and tracking Algolia search rebuilt around the Hyvä header with a fallback to Magento search, the analytics tracker fixed so visits were no longer recorded with zero page views, and the marketing pixels made compatible with Hyvä’s content security policy.
- Release Go-live configuration prepared for the host, Adobe’s security patches applied at the same time, and the release made in an agreed window.
Our own pipeline did the first pass over the 44 modules and the repetitive template work. A senior developer made every port-or-drop decision, reviewed each change and tested the checkout against the live payment sandboxes.
Result
Live in five weeks, and still counting its visitors
5 weeksfrom first commit to taking orders
44custom modules reviewed
0features lost that the owner wanted kept
The store went live on Hyvä with its pack pricing, trade accounts, samples and delivery options intact. The list of post-launch fixes is the part most migrations skip: a fast store that has stopped counting its visitors is not finished.
Worth checking on your store
If you have had a Hyvä migration
- Open your analytics and check that visits have page views. Some tracking code relies on things Hyvä removes on purpose.
- Try the address lookup at checkout, and the terms pop-up, on a phone.
- Ask for the list of what the old store did that the new one does not. If there is no list, nobody checked.
